John is a self motivated, driven individual who takes a great deal of pride in the high quality service his Company can offer. John has had the vision to develop the business into a first class, well respected, high quality and reliable construction company.
John's primary tasks are; project planning, client management, PSCS, quality management and business strategy.
Qualifications: - FÁS carpentry; PSCS; QQI Level 6 BC(A)R
Geraldine Somers - Director
A Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) with broad experience including Senior Associate within a large multinational organisation dealing with financial auditing of large Public Limited Companies, and also as Practice Manager dealing with the SME market.
As Finance Director, Geraldine has overseen the growth of John Somers Construction Ltd from a sole trader sub-contractor into a strong and viable long term business trading as a Limited Company with a multi-million Euro turnover
Geraldine’s primary tasks are Management and Financial Accounts, Management of all relevant returns and financial planning.

Foremen
Eamonn Delahunty
Eamonn is a skilled and knowledgeable Projects Manager with extensive experience as a Site Foreman and Ground Worker. He has over 25 years experience of the Irish and Australian building industry. Eamonn has worked with us as foreman since 2005 on a wide range of schemes from housing developments of up to 250 units through to large scale pipeline construction and river crossing projects. More recently he has been involved as Foreman and Projects Manager on restoration work and remedial and regeneration schemes in the south of Ireland.

Robert Guthrie
Rob is an expert stonemason and experienced Site Foreman having worked in the Irish and British construction industries for almost 20 years. Rob has worked with John Somers Construction Ltd since 2008 and has proven himself to be both an invaluable team player and team leader. He is able to effectively deliver high quality output and has run several new build and infill housing projects very successfully. A key to this success is that he works closely with the client and any parties affected by the works earning their trust and respect.

Tomasz Goczal
Tomasz is an experienced operative who has been working with us since 2009. Tomasz has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the Company and has become expert at the management and delivery of large scale energy improvement projects and property refurbishments. He is a skilled time and task manager and works well with clients and tenants alike.

Quantity Surveying
Our Quantity Surveying team have both experience as Private Practice Quantity Surveyors (PQS) and Contractor’s Quantity Surveyors (CQS) giving the broadest possible spectrum of knowledge. The team's experience covers a wide range of projects from one off high specification houses to large housing developments, new build schools and school alterations and extension, restoration projects, enabling works, energy upgrade works and small and large scale refurbishment works. Effective cost control is a vital part of our ability to deliver a quality project on time and on budget.
Qualifications: - Higher Certificate in Construction Economics; Bachelor of Science in Construction Economics (W.I.T); Direct Entry Examinations to Society of Chartered Surveyors
Health & Safety
John Somers acts as Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage (PSCS) and has received the appropriate training delivered by the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) and our Foremen have all undergone managing Safely in Construction training, again delivered by CIF. In addition to the above, we employ the services of and external Health & Safety Practitioner who assesses all new projects and prepares all the relevant Health & Safety documentation. They also audit each site on a regular basis to ensure our compliance with all current Health & Safety Regulations.
Teams – Carpenters, General Operatives, Plasterers
We have a team of Carpenters with over 30 years experience between them, and in most cases they had served their apprenticeships with us, and have remained on board. Their experience ranges across all aspects of carpentry, from 1st and 2nd fixing, roof construction, restoration, refurbishment works, shuttering and hoarding.
We also have a small team of Plasterers who have extensive knowledge and experience both within the UK and Irish construction industry and, along with an exceptional skills base, have an exceptional work ethic
Our team of General Operatives are a dedicated team who provide the support on site necessary to ensure the delivery a great end result. They possess a wide breadth of experience in all aspects of the construction industry and are really hard workers.
We have a number of directly employed Plant Operators who are ticketed to operate a wide range of machinery.
Subcontractors
Over our almost 20 years in business loyal and skilled team of domestic and specialist Subcontractors who understand our Company values and who we are happy to have represent us on site.
We expect from our subcontractors the same level of service and working standards as we do of our own employees and we monitor and record their performance on a regular basis
We also understand the importance of our sub contractor’s compliance with the regulations and agreements set out for the construction industry and work with them to ensure that they meet, and where possible exceed these required standards.
The areas covered by our sub-contract team are Mechanical; Electrical; Concrete Formwork; Specialist Flooring; External Joinery; Architectural; Engineering and Surveying; Decorating; Groundworks; Cavity Wall and External Insulation; Plastering; Steelwork; and pretty much anything else you can think of.
